Scheels sporting goods store planned at Mayfair Mall (dailyreporter.com) — A major new Scheels sporting goods store is planned as an anchor at Mayfair Mall after Wauwatosa’s Community Development Authority finalized a land transfer with Brookfield Properties. Scheels aims to open a 210,000-square-foot store in 2027, alongside long-term plans for about 900 new apartments and $400 million in mixed-use development on the mall’s south side.
   

2. Jose's Blue Sombrero in the Wauwatosa Village to close before new year (jsonline.com) — Jose's Blue Sombrero in the Wauwatosa Village will serve its final meals on Saturday, December 27, closing permanently and leaving a key State Street storefront open. The shutdown follows earlier flooding impacts in the area and recent closures of sister locations, with gift cards still usable at other DeRosa restaurants nearby.
   

3. Jessie Cannizzaro elected Midwest vice chair of ABC board (dailyreporter.com) — A Wauwatosa business owner is stepping onto the national stage as Milestone Plumbing’s Jessie Cannizzaro becomes Midwest vice chair of the ABC National Board. She plans to use her new role to expand Wisconsin’s successful youth apprenticeship model and strengthen suicide-prevention and mental-health efforts in the skilled trades. Her work could bring more training opportunities and safer job sites for local workers.
   

4. Snowdance 10-Minute Comedy Festival names nine finalists for 2026 run at Sixth Street Theatre (racinecountyeye.com) — Three Wauwatosa writers have a new comedy, “Life Is a Highway,” chosen as a finalist for Racine’s 2026 Snowdance 10-Minute Comedy Festival. Their play will run among nine short comedies at Sixth Street Theatre on weekends from Feb. 6 through March 8, with audiences voting on cash-prize winners. It’s a fun regional stage for local talent to shine.
