• Wauwatosa police arrest driver after standoff in downtown Milwaukee (wisn.com) — Wauwatosa residents should know their police department was involved in a two-hour overnight standoff with a driver in downtown Milwaukee, ending with the person taken into custody near Water Street and Kilbourn Avenue. Officers used shields, long guns, and smoke or tear gas before the driver surrendered, and officials have not yet explained what led to the incident.
   

• Milwaukee area well-represented in 2026 WBCA Hall of Fame class (jsonline.com) — Wauwatosa hoops fans have a hometown reason to celebrate: former Wauwatosa East star Jerry Smith is being inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame this September in Wisconsin Dells. He joins a Milwaukee-area-heavy 2026 class that also includes NBA veteran Caron Butler, standout coach Steve Showalter, and several other notable Wisconsin basketball figures.
   

• Water, wildlife advocate concerned about winter salt in waterways (wisn.com) — From right here in Wauwatosa, a water advocate is warning that heavy winter road-salt use is permanently polluting local rivers and, eventually, Lake Michigan. She urges homeowners and municipalities to cut back, sweep up and reuse leftover salt, and follow best practices that keep roads safe while protecting fish and other aquatic life.
