Police Reports: Siblings Lose Their Cool at Leff's; Teddy Bear Taken for Love

A family affair turned ugly at a Wauwatosa night spot, proving that those who drink to excess together, sometimes pose for mug shots together.

At 12:48 a.m. last Saturday, a 31-year-old Milwaukee man and his two sisters, one 36 and from Wauwatosa, the other 30 and living in Milwaukee, were arrested for disorderly conduct after they started a fight with other patrons inside , 7208 W. State St., that spilled outside.

Police found the man shirtless and so intoxicated he nearly passed out in the back of a squad car and was unable to answer questions.

His sisters were also staggering, swaying and unable to form rational sentences – except for brief, screamed, profanity-laden clauses in the imperative mood that were sometimes grammatically correct but perhaps anatomically unpalatable, regarding what the police could do with, presumably, themselves or others.

Witnesses said that the three had arrived only minutes before the fracas began and were not overserved by Leff's staff.

Thursday

At 4:23 a.m., police were called to the BP gas station at 11417 Watertown Plank Road on a reported burglary. A newspaper carrier had arrived to make a delivery and saw that the glass front door was smashed in. The burglar had attempted to break into the store’s ATM, breaking the top off it, but did not get to the safe.

Tuesday

At 7:33 p.m., an 18-year-old Wauwatosa woman was arrested for possession of marijuana after the drug was found on her during a search after she was taken into custody for retail theft from Ragstock at .

At 3:07 p.m., a 26-year-old Brookfield man was arrested for theft and trespassing at at Mayfair after he was caught trying to steal $385 worth of clothing. He resisted store security staff, having to be taken to the floor three times before they succeeded in handcuffing him. He had been banned from the store for a previous theft about a year ago.

Monday

At 2:38 p.m., a 26-year-old Waukesha woman was arrested for theft at Macy’s after she was caught trying to steal $417.50 worth of clothing.

At 12:10 p.m., two Racine teenagers, one 18 and one 17, were arrested for the theft of two Zippo lighters worth $47.50 each from the Earth Wear kiosk.

At 7:56 a.m., a 22-year-old Wauwatosa man was taken to Froedtert Hospital after he was found unconscious from an overdose of heroin at his parents’ home in the 2500 block of North 83^rd Street. He admitted to being an opiate addict but refused to identify his supplier.

Saturday

At 8:55 p.m., two Wauwatosa boys, 16 and 17 years old, and a Milwaukee woman, 18, were arrested for possession of marijuana and underage drinking after an officer patrolling under the Harmonee Bridge saw them try to drive away quickly when he approached. Besides each of them holding marijuana, the three had a half-full 1.75-liter bottle of Southern Comfort in the car.

Feb. 17

At 5:30 p.m., a 14-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for theft at the Walgreen’s at 2656 Wauwatosa Ave. after he ran out of the store with a large white teddy bear. A customer followed the boy in her pickup truck as he ran around the block, and when police spotted him waiting at a bus stop, he dropped the stuffed animal and bolted again, running for several blocks before he fell down and was apprehended. When police asked him why he would run from police over a teddy bear, he simply said that he wanted it for his girlfriend.

Feb. 16

At 6:16 p.m., a 15-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for theft at Macy’s after he was caught trying to steal $292 worth of clothing.

At 1:45 p.m., two Milwaukee teens, a 19-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl, were arrested at Mayfair for possessing stolen property after a mall security officer spotted them carrying large foil-lined bags, which turned out to contain merchandise taken undetected from the store.

At 12:08 p.m., two Milwaukee women, 20 and 21, were arrested for possessing stolen property when they were stopped in the parking lot on suspicion of having stolen merchandise from and Forever 21. They were found with $296.96 worth of stolen goods between them.

At 10:33 a.m., the manager of , 9993 W. North Ave., reported that a resident there had found three patio screens cut in an apparent attempted burglary. There were three earlier attempted break-ins at Serafino on Feb. 10 and 11, and the manager said this incident likely occurred at the same time. She said the apartment resident had noticed the torn screen on Feb. 11 but hadn’t realized it had been cut until several days later.

A resident of Assisted Living Center, 10101 W. Wisconsin Ave., reported that overnight someone had tried to steal her television set from her room while she slept. Police found the TV lying on its back on its stand with the coaxial cable ripped away. A 27-year-old Milwaukee woman who works at the center is suspected and has been suspended from her job.

Feb. 15

At 12:49 p.m., a 35-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested battery to a police officer after she was first arrested for theft at . She had been observed over several days spending two to three hours inside the store eating food she did not pay for. After being taken into custody, she repeatedly kicked an officer in the shins in a booking room at the police station.

At 10:57 a.m., a 17-year-old Wauwatosa girl was cited for habitual truancy from after being absent without excuse more than 40 times during the first semester and half a dozen more so far in the second. The girl claims she has emotional stress that is worse if she goes to school, so she just stays home.

A Wauwatosa woman reported that some time since 10 a.m. Feb. 13 someone had stolen a TV from her mother’s room at St. Camillus.

Feb. 13

A resident of the 2600 block of North 66^th Street reported that between 11:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. her home was burglarized. A living room window had been smashed and a television set stolen.
