'A Smiling Face And Kind Spirit In The Hall': Wauwatosa Star Student
"If a student seems uneasy giving a class presentation, Stella will enthusiastically say, 'You got this!'"

WAUWATOSA, WI — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Kim Boettcher who nominated a student at her school, Stella, of Wauwatosa.

How do you know the star local student?
She is a student in my school.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Stella embodies inclusivity, warmth, leadership and kindness. She is one of four 8th grade students who lead the student run-business and she is phenomenal in her role. Stella gives weekly presentations to her class about the business and encourages students to come up with products for the business to make and sell. She encourages her classmates to think outside the box to come up with ideas. Stella makes sure to find positive aspects of each product proposal that students create.
Stella exhibits a positive outlook and attitude in the classroom and everywhere she goes. She shows enthusiasm and initiative for any activity and looks for new ways to get involved. Stella has an ability to put others at ease by the way she includes others in all discussions and class projects. She includes and interacts with all students and remembers important information about her peers to help engage them in conversation. If a student seems uneasy giving a class presentation, Stella will enthusiastically say, “You got this!” After a classmate finishes, she is the first to applaud and will go out of her way to make a compliment. She can be anyone’s partner or teammate because of her outgoing personality. On days that it is someone’s birthday, Stella makes sure that the class sings to the person to make them feel special.
Stella makes genuine connections with staff and students alike. When Stella walks in the hallways at school, she makes sure to say hi to everyone. She high fives the little kids in the building, which in turn make them feel special to be seen by an older student. When the teacher and principal were struggling to figure something out, Stella fist-bumped the adults to congratulate them on finally getting it right. She makes genuine connections with educators and staff throughout the building and is always a smiling face and kind spirit in the hallway.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Stella's smile and enthusiasm for life are contagious to everyone she meets.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Stella!
