State Fair Food and Competitions Featured on Travel Channel

Our famous cream puffs and a perhaps a Wauwatosa creation brought to the screen for a hungry world to envy.

The Wisconsin State Fair will be featured in two specials on the Travel Channel, with the first featuring the famous foods of the fair, set to premier at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

State Fair Foods will focus on the unique and delectable treats we have come to know and love, as filmed Aug. 10 and 11 at the fair.

Cream puffs? You bet they'll be featured. Blue Ribbon Brownies? They made the cut.

But will the Travel Channel producers pick up on the new and unique, such as the first-time ever Chocolate-Covered Cranberries on a stick, created just for the 2011 State Fair by Niemann's Candies of Wauwtosa?

We'll have to watch and see.

The second special, which will focus on interesting State Fair Competitions, premiers Jan. 28 at 5 p.m., followed by another airing of the State Fair Foods special at 6.

The Travel Channel production crew spent hours touring Fair Park taping events and talking to vendors, competitors and fairgoers about the vast array of food, entertainment and activities.

Among other classic state fairs featured are the Iowa, Minnesota and Texas events.
