Stolen Car Suspect Fled Police Through Mayfair Mall: Police

The chase through the book store and mall area was about 500 yards in front of patrons shopping inside of the store, police said.

WAUWATOSA, WI — A 20-year-old Milwaukee man has been arrested and charged after authorities say was among four people who fled Wauwatosa police in a stolen car. One of those who fled was caught by officers after he tried running away through the Mayfair Mall Barnes and Noble book store.

Police say an officer on patrol on the 10800 block of W. Burleigh St. on Oct. 29 ran the license plates of a black Buick sedan only to find out that it had been registered as stolen.

Police said the officer initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of Mayfair Mall. Police said the car came to a stop in the mall parking lot, only to have a passenger - later identified as Bradley A. Senter, get out of the car and run through the parking lot with three other people from inside the car.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County, the officer ran after Senter, telling him several times to stop running.

Police said Senter ran south along the west side of Mayfair Mall before entering the Barnes and Noble
entrance. He ran up an escalator to the second level of the store, tripped and fell to the ground near a book shelf, and ultimately surrendered to Wauwatosa Police Officers.

According to the criminal complaint, Senter told police that he got into the stolen car from the rear driver’s seat and sat in the rear driver’s side seat. He told police that he knew it was stolen prior to being picked up by the driver, and knew it was wrong at the time.
