WAUWATOSA, WI — A police officer who was patrolling Wauwatosa was quick to alert residents after he spotted a home's garage in flames, police said.

The officer was on the night shift patrolling when he saw the smoke and then flames coming from a garage positioned right in between two homes. He was quick to start knocking on the doors of nearby homes to alert them to the blaze, and, thankfully, all residents evacuated and were safe, according to police.

"Thank you to our officer for his observations and quick thinking that helped save property and likely lives," police said in a post on Facebook.
