Wauwatosa Crash Involved 2 Teens Who Stole Woman's Car: Police

Police said both teens were transported to the Milwaukee County Juvenile Detention Center on Watertown Plank Road that day.

WAUWATOSA, WI — A car crash at the intersection of Mayfair Road and Walnut Street in Wauwatosa Wednesday afternoon began in Waukesha after police say two teens stole a woman's car as she was loading groceries.

Police say the suspects were 15 and 16 years old.

According to Waukesha police, a 66-year-old woman was loading groceries in to the trunk of her car just after 1:30 p.m. at the local Metro Market on Silvernail Road when a black SUV pulled up behind her.

The woman told police that a man jumped out of the SUV and grabbed her car keys from her. The woman told police she tried chasing the man around her car, only to have he, and another man jump into her car and drive off, police said.

According to police, a Waukesha County Sheriff's deputy saw the victim's car pass his location on I-94 at the Waukesha County line. Authorities said they chased the fleeing car east into Wauwatosa, where the suspects got off the interstate and fled north in the southbound lanes of Mayfair road.

Police said the pursuit ended when the drivers crashed the car on Mayfair Road at the Walnut Street intersection.

According to police, both suspects were arrested, and appeared to be uninjured as a result of the crash.
