Try your Hand at a Fly-tying Class

Fly-fishing is big around here and many visitors make plans to cast a fishing line on the blue-ribbon waters of the North Platte River. And while a full-fledged fly-fishing trip may not be suitable for your group, an easy way to incorporate this much-loved activity is with a fly-tying class. Ugly Bug Fly Shop – located in downtown Casper – teaches fly-tying classes at their shop. Classes are often led by Blake Jackson, one of the owners of Ugly Bug Fly Shop, and an experienced guide. Plus, classes are mobile and can also be taught at other locations throughout Casper, giving you maximum flexibility.

Set out on the Oregon Trail

Casper is the epicenter of the historic trails used by hundreds of thousands of early pioneers who passed through here on their journey to the West. Today’s visitors can walk (or ride) along the actual Oregon Trail and learn about its history – and maybe even their ancestors – on a trek with Historic Trails West. Morris Carter and his knowledgeable crew offer wagon rides, with their 2-hour Taste of the West tour, Dutch oven dinner trek and adventure bus tours being the most accessible for groups.

Take a Brewery Tour

Overlooking the city of Casper with sweeping views of Casper Mountain, Gruner Brothers Brewing is ideal for meeting groups and off-site receptions. With ample room and an impressive brewery, Ben and Daron Gruner make handcrafted beer and give educational tours of what happens behind the scenes at their brewery.

Cocktail class

One of Casper’s most-loved destinations is Backwards Distilling Company. With their distillery in nearby Mills and a tasting room in downtown Casper, the Pollock family is known for delightful spirits and creative cocktails. Their contemporary tasting room can be booked out for private events, including cocktail classes and spirit tastings, while they also offer backstage tours of their distilling location where guests can learn how they craft their award-winning grain-to-bottle spirits.
