- During a city work session on Jun. 27, the Casper City Council instructed the local Homeless Coalition and city staff to continue addressing the growing homelessness issues in Casper. The council requested specific actions from the coalition, although no specific timeline was provided. The city formed the Homeless Coalition last year to tackle the rising number of individuals without homes, and data has been collected to understand the use of services by the homeless population. - Wyoming Albertsons workers voiced their concerns about the proposed $25 billion merger between Kroger and Albertsons during CEO Vivek Sankaran's visit to Casper. U.S. Sen. John Barrasso facilitated the visit after hearing the employees' concerns. Sankaran assured the workers that the intention is to grow the business and maintain jobs, but he left without speaking to reporters, while Barrasso stayed to discuss the visit and emphasize the importance of hearing from the CEO directly. - Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity's philanthropic event, Journey of Hope, is making a stop in Casper as part of its cross-country cycling tour. The event aims to raise awareness and support for people with disabilities while promoting inclusive communities nationwide. The 24-person TransAmerica team will visit NOWCAP, engage with the local community, participate in fundraising activities, and join a dance party to foster inclusion, celebrate abilities, and build connections that transcend barriers. This visit marks the team's 10th annual collaboration with NOWCAP, and their journey will continue from Seattle to Washington, D.C. until Aug. 12. (Oil City News)
