- Today is Free Fishing Day, an annual event where Wyoming Game & Fish invites anyone in the state to fish without a license. All other fishing regulations, limits to creel and size, gear restrictions, and stream closures remain in effect. Here in Casper, kids can take part in the Yesness Pond Kids' Fishing Day from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., with fishing poles provided. Learn more here. (Wyoming News Now)
- On Monday, the Casper City Council spent four hours reviewing the city's upcoming budget. City officials were anxious as they considered the impact of a potential recession, although state sales taxes - the primary source of income for the city's general fund - are exceeding previous estimates. City officials settled on a proposed budget for fiscal year 2024 that depends on a three percent increase in revenue from state sales tax. However, the city's tax base is not well diversified, leaving the local economy vulnerable to economic downturns. (Casper Star Tribune)
