• Students recognized at school board meeting (guernseygazette.com) — Guernsey-Sunrise students and staff were celebrated with VFW essay awards and Viking Pride honors before the local school board got down to business. Board members reorganized their leadership, approved upcoming school calendars and coaching hires, heard updates on buses, athletics, and academics, and noted several open district positions. The next school board meeting is set for 7 p.m. Jan. 16.

• Public Notice #2138 (guernseygazette.com) — Guernsey residents are notified that several local businesses have applied to renew their liquor licenses for 2026, including bars, a market, and the VFW post. Anyone wishing to protest a renewal must attend the public hearing during the Town Council meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at Town Hall on West Whalen Street.
