  1. Birmingham is receiving a $10.8 million grant for a healthcare workforce training program. The grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration, was funded through the American Rescue Plan's Good Jobs Challenge. Partners are expected to train and place over 1,000 jobseekers in healthcare jobs. (Alabama Political Reporter)
  2. One man is dead after a dispute led to a shooting in Center Point. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to the 2500 block of Second Way Northwest at about 8:51 a.m. When officers arrived, the 28-year-old was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital but died due to the wound. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
  3. If you're headed through Trussville soon, you may want to be wary of lane closures. The Alabama Department of Transportation is planning right or left lane closures on I-59 southbound for asphalt repairs between mileposts 140 and 148. These lane closures will take place between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Sunday, Aug. 8 to Friday, Aug. 12. (Trussvilletribune)
