13-Year-Old Child Dies In Birmingham Shooting
A child died in a double shooting in East Lake Saturday after more than two dozen shots were fired between two vehicles.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 13-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in East Lake Saturday afternoon. The shooting occurred just after 2 p.m. at 7512 1st Avenue South.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said shots were exchanged between people in two vehicles and struck the child, identified as 13-year-old Jaylon Palmore, in the stomach and an adult in the arm.
The adult was taken to UAB Hospital and is expected to recover, while the child was later pronounced dead at Children's of Alabama.

Mauldin said police do not have a clear motive behind the shootings and no suspects are in custody.
