Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. On Saturday afternoon, a shooting sent one teen and another victim to a Birmingham hospital. Birmingham police are investigating after a 17-year-old and another victim were shot in the 900 block of 3rd Street North shortly before 5:00 p.m. One victim was rushed to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; the teen had injuries that were believed to be life-threatening, but have since been upgraded to stable. No arrests have been made. (WVTM13 Birmingham)

The city's newest nonprofit, Birmingham Corps, is transforming community service work into jobs by partnering with businesses and nonprofits around the Magic City to help place people in jobs that are making a social impact. Its goal is to create social-impact jobs, connect talent with career opportunities, empower and train local talent, and partner with government agencies and social organizations to make the city better.
