After Days Of Storms, Alabama To Expect A Dry Weekend

Daily rain over the last several days will subside for at least a couple of days, but not before some scattered storms Friday.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — After what seems like a month of solid rain in the Birmingham metro, central Alabama is expected to be relatively dry this coming weekend, after some scattered storms Friday.

Some areas of Alabama finished June with the most rain on record, according to the The National Weather Service in Birmingham. July has been more of the same, with many cities reporting above-average rainfall amounts so far.

The NWS said numerous showers can be expected Friday afternoon and in to the evening, between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Meteorologist James Spann said Alabamians can expect a humid weekend.

"An upper ridge will build into the region over the weekend, meaning the weather will begin to trend hotter and drier," Spann said. "Look for a good supply of sunshine Saturday and Sunday with highs in the low 90s. Afternoon showers and storms will develop, but they will be fewer in number and more widely spaced."
