Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. The Birmingham Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the city's Avondale community on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. on 41st Street North and resulted in the death of one male victim. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the department.   2. The City of Birmingham has announced an internet service subsidy program. The Connect 99 campaign will be working with eligible residents to apply for the federal subsidy. Eligible households can get $30 per month toward high-speed home internet service through the Affordable Connectivity Program.   3. Downtown Birmingham residents have reported a string of car break-ins. The residents have filed multiple reports with the Birmingham Police Department. According to the residents, the thieves did not steal anything of value from the cars — just registration papers. According to multiple window repair shops, there has been an increase in vehicle window repair requests. (WBRC)
