Back To School: Birmingham's 2021-22 School Calendar

Parents in Birmingham and Jefferson County can mark the first day of school coming later this summer.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Birmingham, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Birmingham City Schools and Jefferson County Schools.

Birmingham City Schools start Aug. 2, while Jefferson County Schools start Aug. 10.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A mix of in-person, virtual and hybrid learning is still possible in each system.

Birmingham City Schools have made masks mandatory for the beginning of the 2021-22 school year, while masks are optional in Jefferson County Schools.
