Ballots Set For Birmingham Municipal Elections
Friday was the deadline for candidates to qualify for the August 24 municipal elections in Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Friday was the last day for candidates wishing to be on the August 24 ballot in Birmingham's municipal election to register. More than 70 candidates for mayor, Birmingham City Council or the Birmingham Board of Education qualified.
Mayor Randall Woodfin faces seven challengers, which is the city's most crowded race, along with City Council District 8, which also has eight candidates running. District 8 incumbent Steven Hoyt is not running.
