- Birmingham's Rabbi Steven Henkin of Temple Beth-El told congregants the recent fire which occurred adjacent to the synagogue was not an antisemitic attack. The announcement, made over Shabbat, comes amid increasing reports of antisemitic incidents in the United States. The arsonist had allegedly been setting fires throughout the city. (JTA.org)
- The Magic City Half Marathon & 5K race will be on Sunday, Nov. 20 in downtown Birmingham. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. for half marathon and marathon participants. The event will begin at 8:10 a.m. for 5K runners and 8:15 a.m. for mile runners. Spectators are encouraged to attend to cheer on the participants. - The Budweiser Clydesdales will be returning to Birmingham this week. The world-famous horses will be at the Hold Your Horses event on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event is organized by the Special Equestrians Organization and is meant to educate individuals on proper horse care.
