Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- The Birmingham Racing Commission distributed over $4 million in donations on Thursday. The donations went to various local non-profits, schools, hospitals, municipalities, and more. The donations were made possible through tax revenue created by the Birmingham Race Course Casino's Historical Horse Racing gaming machines. Click for the full list of donation recipients. (WBRC)
- Many Birmingham mothers are reporting that they are struggling with inflation. Birmingham Mom Collective, an organization that supports local mothers with resources, reports that respiratory syncytial virus bills are adding to the problem. The organization is encouraging families to save and organize as much as possible. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- The United States Postal Service is warning Birmingham residents against dropping off packages at night. More thieves are out stealing packages while it is dark, according to USPS. Last pickup times are posted on most drop boxes. Avoid letting packages stay in drop boxes for extended periods of time. (WBRC)
