Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. A Birmingham man has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for gun and drug charges. The sentence was passed down by U.S. District Judge Madeline Haikala to Kendrell Maurice Bell, 28 years old. He had pleaded guilty to the charges in July, according to the Northern District of Alabama. (AL.com)
  2. The teen that was shot on Monday night on Sunrise Lane has died. Ty'nez Lloyd Durden, 17 years old, was a student at Woodlawn High School. He was transported to Children's of Alabama for treatment. He died on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. This is the 121st Birmingham homicide in 2022 so far. (AL.com)
  3. The Birmingham USPS office is prepared for the holiday season, according to the Birmingham Postmaster. The United States Postal Service expects 60 million packages a day during the busy holiday season. To prepare for the massive package influx, USPS has added additional package processing machines.   • The City of Birmingham is still delivering new trash carts. The carts will be distributed in phases of 20,000 at a time. The City asks residents for patience during this process. (City of Birmingham Government via Instagram)
