Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:

  1. Car enthusiasts in Birmingham are seeking a safer way to organize meetups. After multiple instances of illegal "slides" and burnouts at meetups, including a recent one at CityWalk, members of the car community are working with city leaders to try and find a safe spot to meet up.   2. Police are investigating a shooting and car crash that occurred on Monday. According to police, a man was found dead on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds at the 3500 block of Norwood Boulevard. Less than two hours prior to that, a man was found shot to death on Seventh Avenue West, inside a stolen SUV. Police say that 50 to 60 rounds had been fired. (AL.com)
  3. 24 infrastructure projects are nearly finished in town. On Tuesday, the city council's budget and finance committee voted to send a $13 million spending package to the full city council for a final vote that will take place next Tuesday. The money will go to projects that include the improvement of rec centers, golf courses, streets, and other areas of the city. (WBRC)
