  1. On the centennial of Father James Coyle’s death, dozens of people gathered at the Cathedral of Saint Paul in downtown Birmingham. Coyle was murdered by the KKK for officiating an interracial marriage in 1921. (WBHM)
  2. Amid rising numbers of cases of COVID-19 in Alabama, Gov. Kay Ivey declared a state of emergency Friday. This does not include any business closures or mask mandates. (Birmingham Patch)
