- The body of missing boater David D. Etheridge, 51, of Hoover was recovered by Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) on Sunday. Etheridge was considered to be missing on Saturday after authorities discovered an empty 2022 Ranger bass boat. The body was recovered in Spring Creek on Lay Lake. (AL.com)
- Citywalk BHAM’s dog park is officially open! This membership-only, off-leash dog park The Barkery costs $95 per year. Membership applications can be completed on the Citywalk BHAM mobile app. The dog park also has self-service wash stations. The park can be found at 815 24th Street N in Birmingham. (AL.com)
- Two Birmingham men were released from captivity and returned home on Saturday. Alex Drueke and Andy Huynh were held captive by Russian-backed forces for 104 days, since June, and finally returned home to Alabama. The two men were serving the Ukraine army as volunteers. According to WBRC, the men were released as part of a prisoner of war exchange. (WBRC)

- Join the Greater Birmingham Humane Society on October 14 for the GBHS Young Professionals Board 2nd Annual Putts for Paws Golf Tournament. Attendees will have the opportunity to play 18 holes of golf followed by an awards ceremony. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and the tournament will tee off at 12 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and the chance to win some amazing prizes by participating in fun and challenging games throughout the afternoon.
