  1. Birmingham's Anthony Shundale Moore, 50 years old, has been convicted for killing Monica Long Gratton, 55 years old, in 2020. According to the authorities, Gratton died of blunt force trauma on Dec. 3, 2020. Authorities believe it was domestic violence. Moore was convicted by a Jefferson County jury. He will be sentenced on Nov. 14. (AL.com)
  2. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested a man for various drug charges on Thursday morning. The department arrested Marquavius Gibbs Staples through a drug raid search warrant for a home on Chapel Hills Parkway. He has been booked into the Jefferson County Jail with a bond of $3.026 million. (AL.com)
  3. A Birmingham student was arrested on Wednesday after a gun was located at Huffman High School. Birmingham City Schools has confirmed that the firearm was discovered through school safety and security protocols. The arrested student was not threatening students or themselves with the firearm.
