Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. Birmingham's cybersecurity job growth is beating the rest of the country. In the 12 months preceding April, more than 10,500 cybersecurity positions were advertised by Alabama employers, and 1,788 of those were in the Birmingham-Hoover metro. The total cybersecurity workforce in the area is estimated to be around 2,356. To see the top job titles among cybersecurity professionals and learn more, click the link. (The Business Journals)
  2. 12 non-violent offenders were bailed out of the Jefferson County Jail on Monday as part of the Juneteenth celebrations. The 12 women were short of making bail and some had spent months in a cell as a result. To listen to their reaction to receiving bail, click the link and watch the video. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
  3. The weather is heating up, and city services are adjusting accordingly. Due to the warmer weather, Birmingham trash pickups will begin as early as 5:30 a.m. The adjusted times will be in place until October 2022. To ensure trash pickups are successful, city officials encourage residents to have their household garbage at the curb the night before their scheduled pick-up date. (Birmingham Times)
