Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:

  1. One person died after a crash on I-59 on Thursday. Officers and Fire and Rescue Service members were dispatched to the scene at 7:36 a.m. Two vehicles collided on I-59 northbound at Messer Airport Highway. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the other driver was taken to the hospital. As of Thursday evening, there is no news on the surviving driver's condition. (AL.com)
  2. As the housing market shifts, more homes are becoming available to buyers. A local broker spoke with WBRC about how the housing market is adjusting to changing economic indicators. According to Jeremy Miller, the realtor interviewed in the video, listings are at their highest rate since January 2021. (WBRC)
  3. In case you missed it: The Red Rock Trail System has expanded. The 750-mile network of trails, sidewalks, and bike lanes is one step closer to connecting all of Jefferson County. The latest segment completed the Hugh Kaul Trail which connects parts of Avondale to the network. (Birmingham Times)
