Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- The City of Birmingham has invested $1 million into the BHM Financial Freedom Project. The project will be providing grade-appropriate and culturally relevant financial education for our community's children. The project is a partnership between Birmingham City Schools, IMC Financial Consulting, and the Goalsetter Savings App. (WBRC)
- The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the man who was fatally shot outside a Birmingham business on Thursday. Adarius Jamar Peterson, 29, was shot during an argument with a parking enforcement employee. Responding officers detained a 31-year-old tow truck driver in relation to the shooting but the department has not announced any charges. (AL.com)
- The Birmingham Police Department is currently investigating a crash that occurred at 68th Place North and 1st Avenue North. According to the department, a vehicle was driven into a building on Thursday evening. The vehicle's driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The department has not released information on what caused the incident or the driver's condition. (WBRC)
