Freeze Warning Causes School Systems To Delay Friday Opening

Several school systems in Alabama are delaying the start to their school day Friday due to the chance of freezing roads.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — With low temperatures in the 20's Thursday night and rain scattered throughout the day and into the evening, road conditions in parts of north and central Alabama are expected to unsafe, which has prompted some school systems in the state to delay the start to their day Friday.

Thus far, the following schools and systems have announced their plans for the day Friday:

  • Blount County Schools: Delayed 2 hours
  • Cullman County Schools: Delayed 2 hours
  • Fairfield City Schools: Delayed 2 hours
  • Holy Family Catholic Academy: Closed Friday
  • Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School: Delayed 2 hours
  • Miles College: Opens at 11 a.m.
  • Walker County Schools: Delayed 2 hours
  • Wallace State Community College: Closed Friday
