The Birmingham area has several haunted house attractions that will very likely scare you out of your shoes.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Halloween in just weeks away, and one of the best ways to get in the "spirit" of the holiday (so to speak) is to visit a haunted house attraction. Well, you have plenty of options for that in and around Birmingham.

Last year, many of the haunted houses we are used to seeing in the area were closed due to COVID-19, but this year, most of the favorites are back, and a couple of newer attractions have entered the list.

Here are some of the best haunted houses the Birmingham metro has to offer:

Atrox Factory; 8404 Parkway Dr., Leeds

More than a quarter of a mile of twisted roadways and trails, this is billed as the largest outdoor haunted attraction in the state. Open 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Nightmare at 3008; 1731 Decatur Hwy, Fultondale

Nightmare at 3008 opened in 2012, this was ranked by fans as the no. 1 must-see haunted house in Alabama in 2018 and 2019. Open 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Warehouse 31; 3150 Lee Street, Pelham

Located in an abandoned warehouse in Pelham, this super scary attraction offers four different facets: Lights Out Lantern Night, the Escape Room, the 3D Experience and Rigamortis. Open Friday through Sunday from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Hellbilly Hollow; 425 County Rd. 467, Vincent

This attraction includes a wagon ride, a corn field maze and a haunted house. It's worth the trip to Vincent. Open Friday and Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
