Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- Birmingham Water Works was able to resolve billing issues for 41 customers during Tuesday night's townhall meeting. The meeting was cohosted by Jefferson County Commissioner Sheila Tyson, the Birmingham Urban League, the local NAACP chapter, and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference local chapter. The utility outlined the steps it is taking to rectify billing issues during the meeting. Click to review the full list of fixes. (AL.com)
- The City of Birmingham will be hosting a Holiday Tree Lighting Block Party this year. The event will be on Sunday, Nov. 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in front of City Hall. A dance performance will be held at 5:00 p.m. The tree lighting will be at 6:00 p.m. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- The Birmingham Police Department has identified the teen that was killed on Wednesday morning in a shooting that occurred at 80th Street and Fifth Avenue North. Moriah Quib-Marquez, 14 years old, attended Ossie Ware Mitchell Middle School. She is the 16th person under 18 years old to be fatally shot in Birmingham this year.
