  1. The Alabama Department of Transportation will be temporarily closing an Interstate 20 East exit in Birmingham today for roadway lighting activities. The closure will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Exit 130-B. The exit will likely reopen by 11:00 a.m. Please plan travel accordingly. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
  2. Birmingham City School leaders are optimistic about the rate of students attending Intersession. The Fall Intersession period is voluntary and offers additional instruction in subjects that students are struggling with. The district is relying on the Intersession period to close education gaps caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Winter Intersession period is scheduled for Jan. 3 through 6. (WBRC)
  3. The Birmingham boy who was shot while playing video games has been released from Children's of Alabama. The incident occurred on Jun. 29. Christian Savage, 15, was in his home when gunfire ripped through his apartment. He was taken to Children's of Alabama, where he has been recovering for the last 108 days. He is now blind in one eye and has a traumatic brain injury, but family members say he is making progress toward recovery. (WBRC)
