Lakeshore Foundation Wheelchair Basketball team wins tournament

Both Lakeshore Foundation teams move forward to national title tournament

Lakeshore Foundation hosted the National Wheelchair Basketball Association’s 2025 Southeastern Junior Division Conference Championship on March 1 and 2, 2025. Twenty Prep and Varsity Division wheelchair basketball teams from eight states traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the tournament for the title of SEC champions.

  • 1st Place: Lakeshore Lakers (Birmingham, Alabama)
  • 2nd Place: Brooks Bullsharks (Jacksonville, Florida)
  • 3rd Place: Charlotte Rollin' Hornets (Charlotte, North Carolina)

Prep Division:

  • 1st Place: BlazeSports Jr. Hawks (Atlanta, Georgia)
  • 2nd Place: Lakeshore Sharks (Birmingham, Alabama)
  • 3rd Place: Music City Thunder (Franklin, Tennessee)

This competition was the final conference tournament before the NWBA Junior Wheelchair Basketball National Championships, which will take place April 4-6 in Richmond, Virginia.

At NWBA Nationals, the top 32 Varsity teams and 16 Prep teams from across the country will compete for the title of national champions.

The Lakeshore Lakers won the national championship in 2023 and 2024 and will be seeking to add a third national title to their resume in as many years. Both the Lakeshore Lakers and Sharks have received bids to compete at Nationals next month.
