A 47-year-old man was shot to death in Ensley Wednesday night

A shooting at a business in Ensley resulted in the death of a 47-year-old Birmingham man Wednesday night.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 47-year-old Birmingham man is dead after a shooting in Ensley Wednesday night. The shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. at the Smart Food Mart at 900 20th Street.

Birmingham police say the victim, Kevin Devose, was involved in a verbal altercation at the store, which escalated into gunfire. The shooter left the store after the shooting and was last seen running toward Avenue I, according to Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department.

No suspects are in custody, police said.
