- A married couple was found dead inside a Jefferson County home on Sunday evening. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, the deaths were the result of an apparent murder-suicide. The bodies were found in a house on the 5500 block of Myron Clark Road in McCalla around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. A family member discovered them after being unable to contact the couple by phone. (Alabama's News Leader)
- The Birmingham location of Bandit Patisserie will reopen next Tuesday. On Aug. 9, the Kristen Hall-owned pastry shop and bakery will reopen at a new location on Morris Avenue at 2215 1st Avenue North. The shop will serve sweet and savory pastries and baked bread, along with traditional coffee shop options like focaccia sandwiches and espresso drinks. (AL.com)
- The City of Birmingham has approved $13 million worth of projects in a plan proposed by Mayor Randall Woodfin. Among the improvements listed are drainage and streetscape work on 41st Street, Third Avenue West streetscaping, City Walk improvements, and others.
