Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:
- The Birmingham City Council has approved a new bike- and scooter-sharing service to operate within the city. San Francisco-based Lime has been approved to operate in Birmingham through Jun. 30, 2024. The city has also approved VEO Ride and Bolt Mobility to operate within the city. Bolt Mobility shut down in June, however. (WBHM)
- Birmingham's Jimmie Hale Mission has opened a warming station. The warming station is located at 3420 Second Avenue North. It will operate from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. through Sunday, Nov. 20. The warming station is seeking donations of twin-size blankets, bottled water, fruit, and snack bars. Donations can be dropped off at the warming center. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- Birmingham City Schools has approved of a program designed to support students struggling in math. The 10-week intensive program has shown success in other school districts. The Public Education Leadership Program has been funded by a $200,000 investment from the district. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
