Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- Birmingham residents are divided on the recent North Birmingham amphitheater announcement. On Monday, local leaders cleared the first hurdle for the $50 million amphitheater at The Star at Uptown. Supporters of the project are excited for a new amphitheater closer to downtown. Opponents of the project are worried that it will compete with Huntsville's Orion Amphitheater. (Bham Now)
- The Community Action Agency of Northeast Alabama Inc. has received a grant from Governor Kay Ivey to help low-income households with home energy costs during the winter season. - Jefferson County has resumed COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program Applications. The county resumed the application process on Monday through its web portal at this link. The county suspended the program on Jun. 30 so that the backlog of applications could be cleared. The county's program has assisted 2,871 households already. (Jefferson County)
