- A Birmingham man is dead and two others are injured after a shooting and crash on Thursday. According to police, officers were dispatched before noon to reports of a shooting. The driver was on Carson Road when someone in another vehicle fired shots at him, causing him to crash into a wooded area in Center Point. An adult passenger, 33-year-old Nathan Wilson Jr. of Birmingham, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a driver and juvenile passenger were transported to the hospital. As of Friday evening, the driver is in critical condition and the juvenile's condition is unknown. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- A man was saved from drowning last week by his two sons and their friend. According to the man, he was swimming and doing "breathing exercises" in the pool when he lost consciousness. When the boys realized he was unresponsive, one ran for help while another performed CPR. The man regained consciousness as a result of the boys' swift action and recovered at Grandview Medical Center. (WBRC)
- Fireworks, music, and more for Birmingham residents on the 4th of July. Thunder on the Mountain, organized by the Vulcan Park Foundation, will feature a live fireworks show with a choreographed accompanying musical score. Viewers are encouraged to witness the event in person at 9:00 p.m. in Vulcan Park or tune into WBRC Fox 6 to view the live stream. (Vulcan Park & Museum)
