- The Birmingham Police Department responded to a report about a suspicious package being left near Temple Beth-El on Friday. According to the department, the package did not contain an explosive device. The department and the FBI blocked off a large area near the building during the investigation on Friday morning. It is unclear whether criminal charges will be filed. (Birmingham Patch)
- According to researchers at the University of Alabama's Alabama Center of Real Estate, Birmingham rent prices continue to rise. Despite the increase, rental price increases are decreasing compared to last year. The researchers used Zillow data to determine rental price statistical models. (AL.com)
- The First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham is celebrating its 150th anniversary. The church was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 due to its status as the first church building in the heart of Birmingham. The church had an important role in the civil rights movement and has operated as a shelter for many Birmingham residents through the years. The church's congregation will be celebrating with a series of events this weekend. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
