Tropical Storm Nicholas To Bring Rain To Alabama
Eyes are on Tropical Storm Nicholas as it hits the Texas coast Monday. Alabama is expected to see rain this week from the storm.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The pleasant and sunny weather Birmingham has seen over the last few days will turn to a rainy week as Tropical Storm Nicholas hits the Texas coast Monday. The storm will shift east in the next 24 hours.
The National Weather Service shows the storm entering Louisiana and Mississippi by Wednesday, bringing rain to Alabama in the process.
"Scattered showers will be more numerous Tuesday, and the weather will be pretty wet across the state Wednesday and Thursday with deeper tropical moisture pulled northward from Tropical Storm Nicholas to the west," meteorologist James Spann said. "Look for periods of rain and possibly a few thunderstorms both days with temperatures generally holding in the 70s because of clouds and rain."

Nicholas is packing winds of 60 mph Monday morning in the western Gulf of Mexico, Spann said. The center is 45 miles southeast of the southern tip of Texas.
"Nicholas is forecast to approach the middle Texas coast as a strong tropical storm today and could be near hurricane intensity at landfall," Spann added. "Tropical storm conditions are expected along portions of the middle Texas coast beginning this afternoon, with hurricane conditions possible this afternoon and tonight from Port Aransas to Freeport, where a Hurricane Watch is in effect."
