Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. An ABC3340 news report on a damaged Vestavia Hills road has led to its repair. Homeowner Eliena Rosales said crews showed up three weeks ago without notice to improve internet service by making cuts directly into the road that were later filled with gravel. Once the contractor completes its repair work, the final asphalt will be placed within two weeks or less. (Alabama's News Leader)
  2. Birmingham Police Chief Thurmond says the exhibition driving speed bumps have curtailed the dangerous driving. The speed bumps, placed at two intersections on 3rd Avenue, are portable strips that can be placed and moved as needed. Chief Thurmond says dangerous driving has been almost nonexistent on the streets with the speed bumps, but the crew remains open to new designs for the bumps to keep everyone safe. (WBRC)
  3. Kroger is now offering a delivery service out of Birmingham that drops groceries at shoppers' doors. The service is already completing thousands of orders a week. Orders placed online are picked up in Atlanta, trucked to Birmingham, and then delivered using refrigerated vans. (WBRC)
