Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- Birmingham Water Works Chairman Christopher Rice withdrew his resignation, stating he was under duress when he resigned. Rice’s lawyer, Bruce L. Gordon, wrote a letter addressed to the water works board and Mayor Randall Woodfin’s office asserting that Rice will maintain his role on the board. The letter stated that shortly after Rice tendered his resignation on Sep. 8, he sent a second letter to Woodfin’s office rescinding the resignation. (AL.com)
- The Birmingham Board of Education has approved a new budget incorporating teacher pay raises. The district's new minimum hourly pay rate is $15. The almost $507 million budget also includes new pre-kindergarten classes, six new school psychologists, and adjustments in the teacher salary. (WBRC)
- A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Birmingham on Tuesday evening around 7:30 p.m. The incident occurred on the corner of 31st Avenue North and 33rd Place North. The victim's injuries are minor and there is no suspect in custody. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
