BIRMINGHAM, AL — The 2020-2021 school year in Alabama will be much different than any year in recent memory, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues and cases of the virus have seen a spike in Jefferson County over the last month. Some school systems have opted to delay the dtart of the school year to prepare for the changes and precautions needed to insure students' safety.

Over the last two weeks, most of the Birmingham metro area's school systems announced reopening plans and learning platform options.
