- Police are investigating a homicide after a woman was shot and killed at a gas station on Wednesday night. Police responded to a call around 8:28 p.m. at the Marathon gas station at 5423 Highway 280, near Hugh Daniel Drive. According to police, witnesses reported that the woman was followed by a man while entering the store. After an argument that escalated into a physical altercation, the man shot the woman. He was last seen fleeing in a gold sedan. As of Thursday evening, he is still at large. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- A man was sentenced to 25 years in prison on charges of sex trafficking on Wednesday. The man, Jeremy Lynn Alexander, was sentenced to 300 months in prison and a lifetime of supervised release after he was convicted of sex trafficking a minor. Alexander was arrested after a 14-year-old-girl who was reported missing from Madison, Wisconsin was found trafficked to Birmingham. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
- Two people were injured early Thursday morning after shots were fired into a home in East Birmingham. According to police, gunfire was reported around 1:30 a.m. in the 900 block fo Five Mile Road. The victims were transported by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service to the hospital, where they are being treated with non-life-threatening injuries. As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests have been made. (Birmingham Times)
