1. Foley expands fire department ranks to boost promotion paths (gulfcoastmedia.com) — Foley is restructuring its fire department ranks to add new advanced firefighter and driver-operator positions, giving local firefighters more chances to earn promotions and stay with the city. Officials say the change will boost recruitment, retention, and morale while keeping Foley competitive with other departments in a tight labor market. 
2. Foley Opens Bids for First Responder Safe Room Project (obawebsite.com) — Foley is moving ahead with a $39.7 million first responder safe room that could shelter 200 people during hurricanes and other disasters, with the council set to review the bid. At the same meeting, leaders will tackle issues from traffic signal upgrades and new cameras to nuisance cleanups, a future fire station site, and funding for the new library and parks.
3. New Street Lights Approved to Improve Safety at Foley Intersections (cityoffoley.org) — Foley drivers can expect brighter, safer intersections after the City Council approved new LED street lights at James Road and Baldwin County 12, Meadow Run Estates, and Hamilton Boulevard. Installed by Baldwin EMC and Riviera Utilities, these upgrades support ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety and infrastructure across Foley and nearby county routes.
4. What it was like for Philip Rivers' high school team to watch his return to NFL after retirement (on3.com subscription) — St. Michael Catholic’s football team gathered at Cactus Cantina in Foley to cheer on their coach, Philip Rivers, as he returned to the NFL with the Colts. Players described the restaurant watch party as a powerful bonding moment and a reminder that they can chase big goals, inspired by seeing their coach back on the field after retirement.
5. Foley man sentenced for child pornography, child predator charges (wkrg.com) — A Foley resident has been sentenced in federal court to more than 10 years in prison for online crimes involving a minor, and will face 15 years of supervised release afterward. Authorities say investigators uncovered explicit chats and numerous illegal images, and the court also ordered restitution to the victim and sex offender registration with strict limits on contact with minors.
