Staff-selected honorees will advance as elementary and secondary finalists, with overall district Teachers of the Year to be announced later this school year, celebrating classroom excellence across Gadsden. 
• Gadsden State Community College appoints new dean (gadsdentimes.com) — A longtime Gadsden State Community College educator, alumnus Derrick Griffey, has been promoted to dean of academic programs and services, overseeing the school’s largest instructional division starting Jan. 2. His new role will guide core academic departments, tutoring and distance learning, with a focus on improving student success and aligning programs with regional workforce needs that matter to Gadsden-area families.
