Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:
- Hoover football checked in at number seven in AL.com's latest high school football rankings. After beating Bartlett, Tennessee's team last week, the team will take on Spain Park on Friday. Hoover is tied with Thompson, Fairhope, Mountain Brook and Hewitt-Trussville in the seventh spot. Click the link to see the full ranking and find out who's number one in Alabama high school football. - Do you think you've got what it takes? Registration is now open for the Iron Bowl Reading Challenge. Now through Nov. 26, read as many books as you can and support your favorite school. At the end of the challenge, Hoover Public Library will announce who reads more: Alabama or Auburn fans. (Hoover Public Library)
- On Sep. 18, head to the Riverchase Galleria for the Bacon & Blues Fest. The family-friendly event will feature a bacon dish competition, food trucks, a Kid Zone, an adults-only VIP area, and live music by Alabama Blues Hall of Fame Musician, Jock Webb. The event will benefit Heart Gallery Alabama, a nonprofit organization that connects youth in foster care with caring adults who provide the stability and guidance they need to thrive.
