ALDOT Projects To Affect Traffic On 280, I-59

The Alabama Department of Transportation has two projects this week that will affect two heavily traveled roads in the Birmingham metro.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — Two projects by the Alabama Department of Transportation will have a significant affect on traffic in the Birmingham metro this week. Beginning Tuesday, work on U.S. 280 and I-59 will cause delays and detours, according to a Birmingham Business Journal report.

The eastbound, left lane of U.S. 280 will be closed beginning Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., at the Shelby County/Jefferson County line.

ALDOT will also close the right shoulder of I-59 South in Roebuck just south of the Fourth Avenue South entrance ramp to I-59 South beginning Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
