Hoover mayor appoints new city administrator (wbrc.com) — Hoover has a new top administrator: Mayor Nick Derzis has appointed former Pell City manager Brian Muenger as city administrator, effective immediately. Muenger will help guide city operations, manage growth, and support the mayor and council as they work to enhance services for Hoover residents and businesses. 
2. What the FOCUS Act means for Hoover classrooms (hooversun.com) — Hoover families should know that Alabama’s new FOCUS Act now bans student phone and wireless device use during the school day in every public K–12 classroom, including Hoover City Schools. The law also requires local boards to adopt compliant policies and mandates online safety instruction, as research increasingly links in-class phone use to lower academic performance.
3. Former TV sports reporter found dead in apparent murder-suicide (cleveland.com) — Hoover police are investigating the deaths of former WBRC sports reporter Christina Chambers and her husband in what authorities describe as a suspected murder-suicide at their Hoover home, where their young child was found unharmed. Chambers, well known for her high school football coverage, had remained involved in sports broadcasting even after leaving full-time TV work.
4. Oak Mountain hires Pelham assistant Jason Kervin as next football coach (al.com) — Oak Mountain High has hired former Pelham assistant and longtime Hoover coach Jason Kervin to lead its football program in the same tough Class 7A region that includes Hoover. Kervin, who helped Hoover win multiple state titles, says he’s eager to embrace the challenge and build on recent progress at Oak Mountain.
